Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper in Soro Daya village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a copy of which was made available to THISDAY in Kano yesterday, a complaint was lodged on September 1, 2021, by a resident of Danzabuwa village in Bichi LGA of the state that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay N1 million otherwise he or one of his children would be kidnapped.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Sama’ila Dikko, raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Shehu Dahiru to trace and arrest the culprit.

“The team swiftly swung into action. Following credible intelligence and sustained follow up, the team traced and arrested the suspect, Tukur Ahmad, 28, who is from Soro Daya village, Tsanyawa LGA of the state at Panda village, Keffi LGA, Nassarawa State, on the September 25, twenty four days after the report,” Haruna said.

He said during preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed that he is a relative of the complainant, and confessed that he contacted the complainant, adding that the suspect would soon be charged to court.

The commissioner thanked the people of the state for their continuous support and cooperation, and urged them to continue to report suspected criminals to the nearest police station for prompt action.
