Emenobong Emerges Rotary Club President, Uyo Metropolis

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Akwa Ibom State, Ini Ememobong, has been installed as the 15th president of the Rotary Club of Uyo Metropolis.

Ememobong, whose official installation ceremony was held at Emerald Event Centre in Uyo yesterday, took over from Ubong Jeremiah, who had held the mantle of leadership since July 1, 2020.

In his acceptance speech entitled: ‘Behold, a great door of service opens’, Ememobong declared human service as the highest religion, and work for the common good as the greatest creed.

He pledged his commitment to invest his time, energy, resources and talent to the service of Rotary Club of Uyo metropolis, Rotary club International, and humanity in general.

“Rotary is an excellent vehicle that drives on the expressway of service to humanity, and for about a decade, I have witnessed Rotary through Rotarians putting smiles on millions of faces, saving lives, protecting the environment, and advancing the course of global peace,” he stated.

Performing his first official humanitarian services, as part of activities to mark his installation, Ememobong led some members of the Rotary International, District 9142 to the QIC Leprosy Hospital at Ekpene Obom in Etinan LGA; Government Primary School in Afaha Ubeh Itam, and Christ the King Catholic School, Wellington Bassey Way in Uyo.

The team donated a wash-in-school facility, and fifty dual decks to boost the teaching and learning conditions of the pupils.

The visits also featured the planting of 15 coconut trees at the Government Primary School, Afaha Ubeh Itam, and another 15 stands at CKC, Willington Bassey Way in Uyo Metropolis.
