UN Country Delegation Scores Gov Emmanuel High on Infrastructure Devt, Economic Transformation

Members of the United Nations Organisation country delegation have scored Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel high for his infrastructural development and economic transformation efforts.

A statement by the state government said the delegation gave the commendation, Thursday, after an extensive tour of various project and construction sites in the state.
Led by the UN Resident and Nigeria’s Coordinator (RC), Mr. Edward Kallon, the team described Governor Emmanuel as a visionary leader who was working to create future wealth for his people.

According to Mr. Kallon, “What we have seen here in Akwa Ibom State is an example of visionary leadership that is working for the future prosperity of his people “.
“We have heard and read a lot about the progress being made by the visionary leadership of the Governor, and the Akwa Ibom Success Story from afar, therefore the main purpose we are here is to try and see how we can reinforce our partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government and how we can accelerate efforts on how to manage the Covid-19 pandemic “.

Furthermore, he said “We are also here to see how we can equally accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ), which are very crucial for economic transformation “.
On Ibom Air, the UN resident coordinator, who said, “Ibom Air is a thing of pride and jealousy for the State “, particularly hailed the state government for recently adding two new airbuses to the fleet of airline.

While commending the management of Ibom Air for maintaining professionalism, Mr. Kallon, urged the airline to sustain its schedule reliability, excellent customer service delivery and other unique selling points of the airline as a panacea for surviving stiff competition in the sector.

Earlier, the delegation was at Ikot Abasi LGA to see the Amalgamation House, where the proclamation of Northern and Southern protectorates as one Nigeria in 1914 took place as well as visited other historical sites and monuments in the area.
The UN team also stopped over at the St Gabriel Coconut Refinery, the Green House Vegetable House, the ongoing terminal building at the Victor Attah International Airport, the 21-Story smart building, as well as paid a courtesy visit to the MD of Ibom Air, Mr. Mfon Udom.

The facility tour was led by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Emmanuel on Multilateral and Donor Agency, Mr. Nana Udom .
