Starting out as a model and then veering into other aspects of entertainment has given beautiful Venita Akpofure streaks of success even as a vixen and as an actress. However, her prominence soared following her participation at the Big Brother Naija 2019 (Pepper Dem) edition, thus pitching her strongly on her first love, acting. She shares more about her career, personality, motherhood and interests in this conversation with Ferdinand Ekechukwu

As a model, actor, vixen
They have all equally taken a hearty part of me; can’t say which one has taken more than the other depends on which segment of my life you are talking about.

Journey into the industry
I started in this industry by auditioning through an agency helmed by Kelechi Amadi-Obi. That is where I began my modeling and from modeling I go into everything else.

Influence, BBNaija Exposure and Impact
The biggest influence on my life is my emotions; how I feel about myself, how I feel about those around me, how I feel about where I am. Going to the Big Brother House definitely had great impact. Overall, there were some negative parts of it but there’s too much positive to overlook any of the negative.

On acting and getting movie roles
I love to do what I do. I’m very passionate about acting. It’s been nice and refreshing to be able to get back to work. Obviously coming out of the house and with a lot going on and taking on roles and ambassadorship and influencer-ship but primarily my first love is acting and I intentionally, I’m focusing more on getting back to my home turf.

Interest/profession off showbiz / entertainment
Would be interior décor or health and beauty…

High and low moment in life
High moment obviously the welcoming of my children and low moment is quite a few but that’s like a distance in my memory I don’t focus much on that.

Being in the limelight as fulfillment
I do not consider being in the limelight as fulfillment in any way, shape or form. You can’t get instant gratification but it’s very temporary. Fulfillment comes within doing things that actually add to who you are or a longer journey of who you are becoming

Juggling motherhood and set life
It’s actually quite funny, it’s exciting. And the dynamics is always changing. It can sometimes be stressful, it can be difficult. But it’s definitely not boring and I’m not going to change it for anything else.

Connecting and channeling my voice
I have channeled that in a positive cause and positive narrative so I am doing a lot of you know undercover philanthropy of my own and I keep that personal because I’m not doing it for clout per se.

Take on sexual harassment
I think it’s a really disgusting thing to do. Harassment against women is not necessarily only sexual; sometimes it can be emotional and mental. You just have to draw your line quickly. If you are somebody who’s going to give anybody trouble they would try to stay away from you. So knowing about voicing what you are comfortable with or not okay with is a combination of questions.

Notion of showbiz not place for decent women
It may be valid if it’s 100years ago. It’s definitely not the case for the modern day African woman, no. That is not the case for the modern contemporary African woman, no.

Growing up and fond childhood memory
I really, really enjoyed playing around my grandparents’ compounds and playing with my little brother we used to chase lizards. I just missed not been able to worry about somebody, different things that are so important.

Likes and dislikes; hobbies; turn on, turn offs; phobia; favourite food, favourite colour
Venita is a very beautifully passionate soul who is very open, simultaneously very guarded. Venita is vibrant, she likes noise, she likes passion, she likes spice, and she also likes peace of mind and inner growth. She dislikes dishonesty and deceptiveness. Hobbies – I like to go to the spa. Once in a while I do a bit of yoga. And I love to just create content and creative I love to design; I love cooking and feed you know practicing recipes. I hate spiders as well as cockroaches. I love pounded yam and ogbono soup. My favourite colours are red and black. Venita is a powerhouse, she is a phoenix, she’s a unicorn, and she is all things legendary and beautiful.
