HAWTHORNE is an American medical TV series starring Jada Pinkett Smith as Christina Hawthorne, the headstrong yet empathetic Chief Nursing Officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. A classic hospital drama except that it views the health system from the perspective of the day-to-day caregiver.
Christina is a woman described as having a God complex as she is hell-bent on doing anything to help her patients, which includes breaking the hospital’s rules, putting her in a regular collision course with the Hospital’s senior management. She is doing all this while balancing an equally important role as a single parent but she carries them all out like a hero.
Like all good medical dramas, there is romance. The spark between Christina Hawthorne (Jada Pinkett Smith) and the Chief of Surgery, Dr Tom Wakefield (Michael Vartan) is electrifying and will keep you glued to the series as he regularly steps-in to put out the fires with management, caused by Christina.
The TV Series, co-produced by Will Smith, has been nominated for several awards and Jada Pinkett Smith won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama.
