One Killed, Others Injured as NURTW Members Clash in Ondo

One person was killed and several others injured on Tuesday morning, when members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), engaged in free for all Akure.

The confrontation among the members of the transport workers union, caused pandemonium at the popular Old Garage area of Akure metropolis.

During the clash, dangerous weapons including guns, cutlass, axe and charms were freely used.

The man that was killed was identified as Ademola Ademoyegun.

As at the time of filling this report, the Post Office-Texaco stretch of Oyemekun/Adesida Road, was deserted by motorists as commercial taxis and other vehicles were making U -Turn at Post Office.

Securitymen comprising men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the police and Department of State Security (DSS) were already at the stretch of the main road.

At the time of filling this report, the corpse of the shot man, was placed in front of the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo.

The early Tuesday crisis, came barely 48 hours after similar one that left two persons injured.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for Ondo State Command, Mr Tee Leo-Ikoro, said investigation had commenced into the matter to get to its root.
