El-Rufai Signs 2021 State Budget into Law

The Kaduna State Governor, MR. Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that his administration would continue with its development programmes and modernization of public infrastructure despite the negative impact of COVID-19.

Speaking shortly after signing the state’s 2021 budget into law on at the Government House, Kaduna, El-Rufai pledged to vigorously implement the budget to deliver on his administration’s promises.

He also promised to sustain the 98 per cent capital budget implementation the administration recorded in 2019.

The governor said: “It is my privilege today to sign the 2021 Budget of the Kaduna State Government into law as passed by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

“I thank the House of Assembly for consistently passing the next year’s budget way ahead of the end of the preceding financial year.’’

El-Rufai said the implementation of the budget would begin on January 1, 2021, noting that “this is an unprecedented achievement.

“We are the only government that has for years without fail started its budget implementation on January 1st”, the governor said, attributing the consistency in passing the budget in good time to the hard work of officials of the state government who prepared it, as well as the dedication and commitment of members and leadership of the state assembly.

He said: “Even with this pandemic, Kaduna State has continued to make huge strides in infrastructural development as well as expanding on our health system to deal with this kind of emergencies.”

He added that attention being given to infrastructure development and the health sector would be sustained in 2021 with a determined focus.
