Slow Adoption of New Technologies Worries Firm

Despite the business opportunities that big data analytics and other emerging technologies offer, the adoption rate of such new technologies remains slow, Bluechip Technologies has said.

The company who stated this at a press briefing in Lagos, organised to announce its 10th year anniversary as a technology solution company delivering data management expertise to guide the decision-making capacity of financial, telecommunications and public-sector organisations.

According to the technology solution company, in Nigeria, big data is still in the early stages of application, more so in the public sector.
The company was of the view that there is a growing recognition and importance of big data for Nigerian businesses, but explained that it was yet to be diversified for public sector use, due to the absence of data privacy laws and the lack of skilled personnel.

Addressing the intrinsic role of data and analytics in digital transformation, Bluechip Technologies said institutions whether private or public, must begin to rethink their businesses and build such business around data analytics. Only organisations that position themselves to be able to generate insights and take actions quickly, will have competitive advantage, the company said.

Commenting on the milestone in its 10 years of operation, the Managing Director, Bluechip Technologies Limited, Mr. Kazeem Tewogbade, said, “In the past decade, we have consistently delivered value and provided uniquely tailored solutions to our customers. We look forward to our continued excellence in providing the right tools for the collection of information that ultimately drives our clients’ performance.”

The anniversary celebration began at Matori Grammar School, Tewogbade’s alma mater – to launch the Bluechip Endowment Fund as well as commemorate the company’s refurbishment of the school’s facilities. The Bluechip Endowment Fund is a N2 million investment into the school, dedicated to executing capital projects and rewarding excellent students and teachers over the next few years.

Co-founder, Bluechip Technologies, Olumide Soyombo, said, “We are so glad to be celebrating a decade of staying the course and developing the Bluechip brand.

“We have come a long way from our humble beginnings in 2008; thanks to the tireless commitment of a team of people who have become instrumental to the Bluechip story. We appreciate all our OEMs, partners and customers; they have all been instrumental to our growth.

“As we look ahead, we are excited about what the future holds for us and for our industry at large, and to being a part of the continued proliferation of data analytics and management in Nigeria and the continent at large.
