The Assistant Inspector – General of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin city, AIG Rashed Olatunde Akintunde has ordered the arrest of all policemen allegedly involved in the murder of one Samson Omonuwa. The late Omonuwa was alleged to have been beaten to death by the policemen attached to Enerhen, Warri Division, Delta State.
In a statement signed by the zone 5 Public Relations Officer, DSP Emeka Iheanacho, and made available to journalists in Benin City, the arrest order was sequel to a petition dated 14th May, 2018 by family of the deceased through their Counsel, D’angelo Zebra Consult, firm of legal practitioner to the AIG.Â
The statement added that from the complaint, father of the deceased, Mr. Anthony Omonuwa alleged that his deceased son and his friend had an altercation which led to a fight at kolokolo layout, Enerhen, Warri, then his friend laid a complaint at the Enerhen Police station. According to him, “Consequently, three Policemen were detailed for the arrest of the suspect. Right there and then, the policemen clubbed the deceased to a state of stupor.
