Adibe Emenyonu in Benin City
Seven persons have been confirmed dead in several road accidents that occurred across Edo State during the Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations.
While most of the accidents were said to have occurred at night along the Benin bye-pass, a total of 91 persons were injured in the accidents.
Mr. Samuel Odukoya, Edo State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who disclosed this to journalists on yesterday, advised motorists to be extra careful when driving at night.
Odukoya said he deployed 1,500 Special Marshals and 407 regular marshals to the highways to ensure safe driving.
He urged motorists to always ensure their vehicles are in good condition and to avoid over speeding.
