Omu Resort Set to Unleash First Ever Food Festival

Lagosians have been alerted to get ready for an unforgettable mind-blowing experience, such as never seen before, this Christmas, at the maiden edition of the Omu Food Resort Festival billed to hold from 23 to 24 December, 2017, at the nature-wonder Omu Resort premises, Bogije Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

The Omu Resort Food Festival, an annual event is an adventure for lovers of good and healthy food to explore their taste buds. The 2017 Christmas edition marks Omu Resort’s first season of celebrating the rich diverse culinary endowments in Nigeria and beyond.

According to Moji Ibhaze, Acting General Manager, Omu Resort, Lekki, Lagos as Nigeria’s Centre of Excellence is not just good as a viable business destination for both Nigerians and expatriates alike, but equally good enough and capable of providing natural homeland foods thus, making it a home away from home.

“Lagos is home to all ethnic groups from across Nigeria; but not just Nigerians, several international groups also have heavy presence in Nigeria dating back to so many decades.

“You have the Chinese, the Indians, Senegalese, Ghanaians, Beninois, Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas, South Africans etc. It is about celebrating Christmas together,” he said.

He added that the food festival would be featuring a culturally diverse menu consisting of Chinese, Continental, Senegalese, Nigerian and Indian foods.

He noted: “The food festival is about celebrating Nigeria’s diversity through food and culture while also showcasing the food and culture of visitors to Nigeria. In fact, the event aims to bring different cultures together while guests will learn about food and cultures different from theirs.”

Ibhaze announced that Omu Resort was on a mission to expand the frontiers of tourism in Nigeria while using the food festival to celebrate the country’s unity in diversity. He assured tourists that the Resort was a place where fond memories were served daily.

“We have attractions other people run as single businesses in one place and at affordable rates. We hope participants go away with fond memories of the festival which will include traditional dances, the food festival proper, as well as the various regular activities the resort offers,” he concluded.

Omu Resort is home to 21 attractions including a zoo housing animals like the lion, hyenas, giraffes, ostriches, etc. Activities in the Resort include: quad biking, kayaking, go-carting, sea world, a water park, blade skating, paint balling, amongst others. The theme of the 2017 Food Festival is ‘Explore your Taste Buds.’
