A former governor of Oyo State, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has disclosed that he would not contest the 2019 governorship election.
Ladoja, who just returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed this on an Ibadan-based radio station, Fresh FM programme, Political Circuit, saturday.
He explained that he had personal reasons for not joining the next governorship race, adding that he was better prepared for the PDP National Chairmanship race than the governorship.
This came as a former Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jumoke Akinjide, said “Ladoja is simply the best man for the newly packaged PDP as national chairman”.
But a former Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has also disclosed that the change the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), brought to Nigeria since it came to power in 2015 was a confused one and not real change.
Lanlehin made this disclosure on yesterday shortly after supervising the Ibadan North West Local Government congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held at Ebenezer Primary School, Salvation Army Road, Ibadan.
The ex-lawmaker, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 while speaking with journalists noted that contrary to the belief of the APC members that the congresses of the party would not see the light of the day, both the ward congresses held last week and the Local Government congresses held yesterday were conducted in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
He noted that reports of the ward congresses in all the 350 wards and 33 local government areas in the state indicated that everything went well for the party.
