Maracana All Stars will play FESTAC counterpart in the finals of this year’s Lagos All Stars football championship after both teams dismissed their respective opponents in the semi-final matched decided at the NPA playing ground Surulere, Lagos.
Maracana All Stars defeated Laspotech All Stars football team 4-1 on penalties after regulation time ended 1-1, while FESTAC All Stars had the upper hand over Paco All Stars by 5-4 via penalties after both sides failed to score at regulation time.
The tournament is basically for ex-footballers, who have at one time or the other played for the country.
The match also featured a penalty kick session between ex- Nigeria internationals and sponsors.
Managing Director of Mikano International limited, Â Ghassan Libbos commended the organizers of the championship while calling on other corporate bodies to key into the vision of the Lagos All Stars FA.
â€œI want to congratulate organizers of the championship for creating this programme. There is need for corporate organizations to partner with such initiative because the government cannot do everything alone. We are proud to be part of this,â€ he said.
The finals is expected to holdÂ in two weeksÂ at the NPA playing ground Bode Thomas, Surulere.
