The Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Mrs Rashida Bello has donated educational materials to 2,000 pupils of the first primary school in northern Nigeria, the Bishop Crowther Holy Trinity Primary School, Lokoja.
Also benefitting from Mrs. Bello’s gesture executed under her pet initiative, Kogi Women and Youth Advancement Foundation’s (KOWYAF) Direct Reach out Project (DROP) are pupils of the Holy Trinity Primary School, Lokoja.
With the gesture, a total of 2,000 school bags containing exercise books, writing materials, mathematical sets and lunch packs were donated to pupils across the two selected schools in Lokoja.
Speaking at the launch of the ‘Back to School Programme, in Lokoja, the governor’s wife said the gesture which would be carried out across other schools in the three senatorial districts of the state was meant to boost basic education in the state.
She noted that access to quality basic education would enable children to live fulfilled lives, achieve their dreams and contribute positively to the society at large.
“Education is pertinent and has great social value in a modern and industrialised society like ours, as such, the Governor Yahaya Bello’s drive for development in the education sector cannot be over emphasised.”
She said the Bello administration regards education as the most effective way through which the state can face the challenges of tomorrow “knowing that education serves as an important indices for measuring the development of a state.”
