Terrorism: US Military to Improve Intelligence Sharing, Hardware, Capacity Building with Nigeria

As acts of terrorism and insecurity take hold of the Gulf of Guinea and Lake Chad Basin, the United States military on Wednesday said efforts are on to improve intelligence sharing, hardware and capacity building with the Nigerian military to curtail terrorism in the region.

This came as President Donald Trump assured President Muhammadu Buhari in a telephone conversation early this month of better military cooperation in fighting terrorism across the country.

To that effect, the Commander of the United States African Command (AFRICOM), Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, said given the current wave of terrorism in the Gulf of Guinea and Lake Chad Basin, the US government would intensify military cooperation with the Nigerian government.

Waldhauser gave the assurance when he visited Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
