Mobile Court Convicts 34 Traffic Offenders in Sokoto

A Mobile Court in Sokoto State mondday said it had convicted 34 traffic offenders, with one of them bagging two months jail term or an option of N30,000 fine.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Sokoto Sector Command, Mr. Aliyu Kanya, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Sokoto.

According to the statement, the mobile court was conducted on January 5, 2027, along Sokoto-Illela highway.

The statement said two other suspected traffic offenders were discharged and acquitted.
‘’The major offences focussed on were overloading,driver’s licence violation and vehicles licence violation.

‘’ This is to inform the motoring public that the exercise is a continuous one and therefore call on them to desist from carrying and boarding overloaded vehicles,’’ the statement read.
It advised motorists to desist from using mobile phone while driving and should also stop use of expired or second hand tyres.

The statement further urged motorists in the state to install speed limit device in their vehicles.

‘’We want motorists to abide by the rules and regulations governing the use of roads in order to engender a safer driving culture in the state,’’the statement concluded.
The statement to this end, urged motorists to desist from driving without valid driver’s licence,as well as endeavour to register their vehicles with the Internal Revenue Board.
