Shettima Gives N1m for Education of Children of Deceased Pilot Correspondent

Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on Thuesday supported the education of the children of the deceased correspondent of the Nigerian Pilot Newspaper, Mr. Ben Aidokanya, with N1million.

 Aidokanya, the Borno State correspondent of the Nigerian Pilot died last Tuesday after a protracted illness.

The governor, who sent a delegation led by his Special Assistant on Communications and Strategy, Mallam Isa Gusau, to pay a condolence visit on the family of the deceased, also volunteered to provide an ambulance to convey the journalist’s corpse to his hometown, Effeye Ipole village of Ugboju district in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State for funeral rites.

Shettima equally promised to provide the needed logistics to get the deceased’ the friends especially professional colleagues to Effeye Ipole to pay their final respect.

The governor’s delegation which was received at the Maiduguri residence of the late journalists by the President, Idoma Community Association in the state, Mr. John Akogwu, presented a letter of condolence signed by the governor’s spokesman to the bereaved family.

The corpse of the deceased is expected to leave Maiduguri for his hometown today where it will be finally committed to mother’s earth on Saturday.
