The wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has called on all Nigerians to get enlisted in the fight against malnutrition in the country.

The nation and the rest of the world’s attention was drawn to the threat of malnutrition with the reported death of over 200 persons at internally displaced persons’ (IDPs’) camps in Borno State.

She made this appeal during the distribution of relief materials to 1,500 families who are internally displaced persons in Maiduguri.

Distributing the relief items which included bags of rice, millet and other supplement with cash donation to beneficiaries at the Government House in Maiduguri, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, who was represented by the wife of the Borno State Governor, Hajiya Nana Shettima, said “It is time for everyone in the country to get involved in the fight against malnutrition in order to prevent any more death.”

She said: “Everybody should get involved to prevent the death of our people, especially women and children from malnutrition and this they must do now.”

She added that with the active involvement of everyone, the battle to put a stop to the death through malnutrition among the internally displaced persons would be achieved.

The First Lady said: “The collective efforts of all well-meaning Nigerians will ensure that no child at IDP camps as well as other parts of the country lack good diet,”

She noted that the distribution of food items to 1,500 families within Maiduguri yesterday was the first after about 4,000 peoples were impacted during the last Ramadan by the First Lady pet project, Future Assured.
