Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ife-Central and Ife-East Local Government of Osun State, Hon. Adeleke Enitilo and Mr. Kayode Ogundele have berated Senate President Bukola Saraki on the recent reshuffle of the Senate leadership.

Enitilo and Ogundele condemned what they described as deliberate humiliation of Senator Babajide Omoworare, who was removed as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Rules and Business and made chairman of Legislative Compliance Committee.

The APC chairmen, who stated this in a joint press statement issued and signed by them yesterday. Omoworare who hails from Ile-Ife is representing Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District among which are Ife-East and Ife-Central local governments at the senate.

According to the APC leaders, Legislative Compliance Committee did not exist in the senate, noting that Saraki was fighting Omoworare because of his loyalty to the APC and the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Describing Saraki’s action as punitive to Omoworare, the APC chairmen stated that the Senate President and members of his cabinet had never been comfortable since Omoworare ‘was mistakenly’ made the Chairman of the ‘most strategic committee of the Senate.

They stated that Saraki had been making serious move to remove Omoworare, maintaining that the reshuffle of the senate leadership was purposely to remove Omoworare.
“With this step, Saraki and his cabinet members have shown their hatred for independent mindedness; party discipline, professionalism, brilliance and loyalty which Omoworare represents.

“How will one explain a situation where a Senator from the APC with 14 years legislative experience is deployed to a non-existing committee of the Senate only to be replaced by a Senator with just 6 months legislative experience?
“This disdain for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and everything associated with him is being taken too far by the Senate president and his people.

“We wish to explore this medium to remind the Senate President and his cabinet that their deeds are before the public to document and they can only remove him as the committee Chairman but he cannot be removed as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, they said.

The APC chairmen commended Omoworare for standing for the truth and being a man of integrity, saying that the senator is proudly representing the people of the Osun East Senatorial District with uprightness and humility.
