Alatise Yemisi, first African, installed International Inner Wheel President

Mrs. Oluyemise Alatise, on Tuesday, in Manchester, United Kingdom, made history as the first African to be installed the president of the International Inner Wheel Club, a club of women world-wide in 103 countries with over 4,640 clubs.

The club, a charity organisation, has over 100,000 members in its 94-year of existence. The first Inner Wheel club in Nigeria was formed over 50 years ago.

Alatise who will steer the club till 2017, the mandatory one year tenure of office, is from the Inner Wheel Club of Lagos in International Inner Wheel (IIW) District 910 Nigeria. She joined the club in 1978. She has served in practically all national positions and the IIW presidency is the highest pinnacle attainable in the club.

Alatise took over from Mrs. Charlotte de Vos of Belgium. Her chosen theme for her tenure is Touch a Heart.
