Oyo Govt Arraigns 2 Civil Servants for Multiple Salary Collection

Two civil servants in Oyo State have appeared before a Magistrate’s court in Ibadan for allegedly receiving multiple salaries running into several millions of naira.

The suspects, Oluwaseun Adegoke and Ojo David Olarenwaju, who were arraigned separately in different courts, however pleaded not guilty to all the charges levelled against them.

Recently, Oyo State Government announced the suspension of over 16,000 civil servants for different illegal cases.

Some of these cases include multiple salaries, age falsification, defective biometric verification numbers, BVN, among others.

After clarification, the State Government decided to sue the suspected employees.

The two suspects were arraigned on different count charge.

Oluwaseun Adegoke, who appeared before Chief Magistrate A F Richards of Court 2 is facing eight counts charge while the other suspect, Ojo David Olarenwaju, who is facing a seven-count charge, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate A Adebisi of Court 3.

The suspects were accused of illegally receiving millions of naira as salaries between the period of February 2014 and December 2015 using different names with different account numbers.
