Personnel of the Lagos State Police Command attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti, Yaba, have arrested Mrs. Florence Chukwuma for an alleged attempt to kill her husband.

The mother of five was accused of attempting to set her husband, Chinedu, ablaze following an ongoing disagreement over a property at the Ejigbo area of the state.

The police said the suspect, who is estranged from her husband, Chinedu, had allegedly poured a keg of petrol on him and attempted to light it in a bid to set him ablaze.

He was, however, said to have scaled a fence to escape being burnt although he sustained minor injuries.

Although the suspect has since denied the allegations, the victim also accused her of destroying their properties worth millions of naira.

The victim, who said he had been married to Njideka for 18 years now, said he had filed for divorce at a Lagos High court.

Accusing her of attempted murder, he said the marriage collapsed due to her incessant harassment and fighting.

According to reports, their traditional ruler at Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, and his council had separated the couple after they discovered the marriage had broken down irretrievably.
