Xiaomi to Launch REDMI Note 17 Series with 10,000mAh Battery in Nigeria

Xiaomi is set to launch its REDMI Note 17 Series in Nigeria on September 30, with the company introducing a smartphone featuring a 10,000mAh battery, which it describes as its largest-ever smartphone battery.

The new lineup comprises the REDMI Note 17, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, with the three models offering different specifications in battery capacity, connectivity, display, performance and camera capabilities.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G will headline the series with a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Xiaomi said its internal laboratory tests indicate that the device can deliver up to four days of use on a single charge, although actual battery life will vary according to usage.

The device supports 100W HyperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging, allowing users to charge compatible devices from the smartphone.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G features an 8,340mAh battery with 67W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging, while the standard REDMI Note 17 comes with a 7,700mAh battery, 45W turbo charging and 22.5W reverse charging.

Xiaomi said the range was designed around battery endurance, durability and everyday performance, targeting users with varying requirements.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the device carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 mobile platform, built on a 4nm process, and is available in some markets with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

For photography, the Pro Max 5G has a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 32-megapixel front camera. The front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30 frames per second.

Xiaomi is also incorporating AI-based imaging features into the camera system, including an AI ultra-clear imaging function.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G has a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and 12-bit colour depth. It is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.

The standard REDMI Note 17 features a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,800 nits peak brightness and DCI-P3 wide colour gamut.

It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor and comes in a range of RAM and storage configurations, including 4GB+128GB, 4GB+256GB, 6GB+128GB, 6GB+256GB and 8GB+256GB.

The device also features Hi-Res Audio and a claimed 200 per cent volume boost. It will be available in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal and Black.

The three devices will run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi said the series would receive up to four years of operating system updates and six years of security updates.

The company said the extended software support was intended to lengthen the useful life of the devices and reduce the need for frequent replacement.

According to Xiaomi, the REDMI Note 17 Series is aimed at users including content creators, travellers and consumers who require extended battery life, fast charging and durable devices.

The September 30 launch will place the new series in Nigeria’s increasingly competitive smartphone market, with battery capacity forming the principal distinction across the three models, ranging from 7,700mAh on the REDMI Note 17 to 10,000mAh on the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.
