Dangote Named Recipient of Expo Africa Brazil 2026 Leadership Award

President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has been chosen as the recipient of the Expo Africa Brazil Leadership Award 2026, regarded as the highest international honour presented by the organisers of the forthcoming trade summit.
The decision was unanimously endorsed by the Expo’s International Honours Committee.
The prestigious award is expected to be presented to Dangote officially at Expo Africa Brazil 2026, which will take place in Brazil from December 3 to 5, 2026.
In a statement signed by João Canda, President of Expo Africa Brazil, the organisers described the decision as one of the most important institutional resolutions reached since the establishment of the platform.
Canda explained that the honour goes beyond Dangote’s remarkable accomplishments in business, noting that it also recognises his lifelong efforts toward the industrialisation of Africa, employment creation, and the advancement of the continent’s role in international commerce.
According to Canda, Dangote represents the kind of vision the Expo Africa Brazil platform seeks to promote, particularly through courageous leadership, partnerships across continents, and large-scale transformative contributions.
The three-day summit is projected to attract more than 1,000 delegates, comprising government officials, private-sector executives, and representatives of multilateral organisations from over 25 African countries.
Senior officials from the Brazilian government, Latin American institutions, and international business organisations are also expected to participate.
The organisers described the summit as an important avenue for strengthening South-South trade, particularly at a period when the global economy is increasingly moving toward emerging markets.
The programme is expected to include policy discussions, sector-specific panels, and government-to-business engagements focused on key areas such as investment, infrastructure, energy, agribusiness, technology, and financing.
The statement further noted that Dangote’s selection reflects the increasing relevance of Africa’s industrial capabilities to global supply chains.
As the founder of one of Africa’s biggest conglomerates, with major interests and operations across cement, agriculture, and energy, Dangote has spearheaded some of the continent’s most ambitious industrial development initiatives.
Canda further emphasised the complementary strengths of Africa and Brazil, stating that Africa possesses significant demographic expansion and productive potential, while Brazil offers market opportunities and industrial expertise.
He added that leaders such as Alhaji Dangote demonstrate the possibilities that emerge when Africa’s potential is supported by sustained, long-term investment.
