Building Beyond You Institute Opens Registration for 2026 Lagos Conference, to Build on Bestselling Book

An organisation, Building Beyond You Institute, has opened registration for the second edition of the ‘Building Beyond You Conference’, to be held on September 25, 2026, at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos. According to the organisers, the event, convened by the Founder of House of Tara International, Tara Fela-Durotoye, is a one-day gathering billed as the continent’s largest for founders, business owners and executives intent on building beyond themselves.

The maiden edition drew 1,381 participants, and this year’s edition is expected to draw 2,500 from Nigeria and across Africa, capping a monumental twelve months in which the Institute’s message of founder-independent business travelled from a Lagos ballroom to boardrooms across East Africa.

“In April 2025, Tara Fela-Durotoye handed day-to-day leadership of House of Tara International-the beauty company she started from her living room at age 20 and grew over 27 years into Nigeria’s first makeup academy and first indigenous makeup brand-to Rosemary Layode, the company’s first-ever Managing Director. “The book that followed, ‘Building Beyond You: The House of Tara Story’, took seven years to write and was formally released in April 2026, going on to become an Amazon ‘Business’ bestseller in both Canada and the United States. The House of Tara story itself has been adopted as a teaching case study at Stanford Graduate School of Business in California,” the group stated.

“This is a woman who did not wait for legacy to find her. She curated it. Perhaps the hardest test of vision is the willingness to walk away when the structure stands, not crumbling, but whole,” entrepreneur and former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika, wrote of the book.

It added that: “The Institute tested that idea publicly at the maiden Building Beyond You Conference held on September 18, 2025, at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.”

Sponsored by Coca-Cola, MTN, i-Invest and House of Tara, the conference was headlined by Atedo Peterside, chairman of the ANAP Foundation, with keynotes, panels and fireside chats featuring convener, Tara Fela-Durotoye, and Ibukun Awosika.

Fela-Durotoye challenged attendees to be deliberate about what they were building, adding: “If you want to flip your company for profit, this conference is for you. If you want to hand over to your children, this conference is also for you.”

She traced the conviction to a moment of clarity about House of Tara’s purpose. “God saw that Africa had a problem, and He dropped the idea of building a formidable beauty institution into my heart as part of the solution,” she said.

While taking the message continentally, Fela-Durotoye said that the message has since travelled beyond Nigeria, and has just completed a four-city East Africa tour marking the book’s release, moving from Nairobi to Kampala, Kigali and, finally, Dar es Salaam.

At the Kigali leg, held alongside Rwanda’s Private Sector Federation and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, she distilled the philosophy that now anchors both the book and the conference.

She said: “Legacy is not makeup for me. Legacy is not beauty for me. Legacy is the impact of the lives that I developed and built in the institution.”
In recognition of that momentum, RwandAir is offering a 15 percent discount to all Building Beyond You 2026 Conference participants, as registration is now open for 25 September.

Ticket demand for the 2026 edition mirrors last year’s response, with VVIP and Regular tickets moving quickly for physical attendance. VIP early-bird pricing remains available at a reduced rate for a limited time, alongside Online Viewer access for those joining virtually.

According to Fela-Durotoye, “Legacy is not an event; it is a culture of building that outlives the builder. This conference is not about stepping away from your business. It is about stepping up to leadership, to structure, to the discipline of building something that will still be standing, and still be growing, long after you have left the room.”

Prospective attendees, media, and organisations interested in securing a seat, sponsoring, or partnering with the Institute (individual partner packages begin at ₦1,000,000) can register at their website.

“Organisations interested in sponsorship or partnership opportunities around the 2026 conference, including the Institute’s Legacy Circle individual partner package, can reach the team directly.

“The Building Beyond You Institute is a business development and legacy hub equipping founders, visionaries, and executives to build systems, institutions, and brands that outlast them. Through its annual conference, published works, courses, roundtables, and community, the Institute teaches, mentors, and mobilizes leaders across Africa to move from personal success to generational significance,” she said.
