Glasgow 2026 Unveils World-class Athletics Track as Scotstoun Stadium
With less than a month until the opening ceremony, Glasgow 2026 has unveiled a state-of-the-art athletics track at Scotstoun Stadium, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated competitions of the Commonwealth Games.
The newly installed Dynamik Mondo Sportflex Super X 720™ surface—widely regarded as the most technologically advanced track in the world—will host 59 Athletics and Para Athletics medal events from July 27 to August 1.
Some of these events will feature many of the sport’s biggest names, including Scotland’s Josh Kerr and Eilish McColgan, England’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Georgia Hunter-Bell, Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, and Kenyan stars Faith Cherotich, Lilian Odira, and Timothy Cheruiyot.
Designed to maximize energy return and athletic performance, the surface represents another significant investment in delivering a world-class championship experience.
Beyond the Games, the new track will leave a lasting legacy for Glasgow by providing local athletes and clubs with a premier high-performance facility for years to come.
Organizers insisted yesterday that the investment reflects the Games’ commitment to both elite competition and grassroots development, while further cementing Glasgow’s reputation as one of the world’s leading hosts of major sporting events.
With more than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories competing across 10 sports and six Para sports, Glasgow 2026 promises to showcase world-class competition while inspiring the next generation of athletes through facilities that will continue serving the community long after the medals have been awarded.
