TMU and Much Music Less Talk Host Afrobeats Workshop in Lagos

The Creative School of Toronto Metropolitan University, in collaboration with Much Music Less Talk, hosted a one-day workshop titled “The Economics of Afrobeats Music” at Mayors and Diplomats Suites, GRA, Ikeja.
The workshop brought together music professionals, academics, media practitioners, and emerging creatives to discuss the business, sustainability, and global growth of Afrobeats.
Organized by Dr. Adesoji Babalola and Mr. Olaitan Salaudeen, the event explored topics including music publishing, artist development, digital distribution, branding, and intellectual property.
Notable attendees included Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye of the Department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Obasijuade Adedokun, Olumide Enilolobo, and Wemimo Folorunsho.
The workshop also provided networking opportunities for music practitioners, students, academics, and industry stakeholders, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and investment in Africa’s creative economy.
The organizers described the initiative as an important platform for knowledge sharing and industry development, positioning Afrobeats as both a cultural movement and a significant economic force.
