Adekunle Gold: How Uniqueness Built a Fashion Empire

The opening mechanism on a drink can is officially called a stay-on tab or pull tab. The part you lift acts as a lever, while the metal section that is pushed down to create the drinking hole is known as the opening panel or score. But who would have thought that this simple piece of aluminium could inspire a fashion concept with the potential to become a major trend?
The aluminium tab, which remains attached to the can after it is opened, was introduced in the 1970s to reduce litter from beverage cans. However, when sensational music star Adekunle Gold began wearing an earring inspired by the pull tab, it gradually evolved into a fashion statement. At first, many people probably assumed it was an actual can tab. But as the accessory appeared repeatedly in his music videos, public appearances, and social media posts, its significance became clearer.
In a YouTube video featuring Adekunle Gold and content creator Shank, the singer jokingly warned fans not to start removing pull tabs from beverage cans to imitate his look. Instead, he hinted that a refined version of the accessory would soon be released and encouraged fans to purchase it through the official channels when it became available. He also urged his supporters to embrace the idea and be part of the movement.
That was how Tuffman was born—Adekunle Gold’s lifestyle and fashion brand. Curated for “the man who moves differently,” the brand is built on the principles of minimalism, intentionality, and sharp design. Every piece is created to make a statement through presence rather than noise, redefining style one clean cut at a time.
One of the brand’s first products is the Wave Earrings, available in silver and gold finishes. Since their launch in June, the earrings have quickly gained popularity among both men and women, gradually becoming a sought-after fashion accessory. They are now available in-store and online through Ash Luxury, as well as on Tuffman’s official website.
Before the official launch, Adekunle Gold shared the inspiration behind the collection in an Instagram post. He wrote: “I’ve spent most of my life creating things people can hear. This time, I’ve created something you can wear. WAVE started as a sketch I couldn’t stop thinking about. I kept tweaking it until it became this. Finally sharing it with you.”
