Billiana unveils Resonate, opens new chapter in music career
Nigerian singer and songwriter Billiana has announced a new phase in his music career with the release of his latest project, Resonate, describing the development as a comeback rather than a setback.
Born David Ayomide Odeyemi, the Lagos-based artiste said the release marks the beginning of a fresh chapter in his artistic journey as he continues to build on his growing reputation within Nigeria’s music industry.
Billiana, who blends Afrobeats, Afropop and Trap music with emotionally driven storytelling, first emerged through the Nigerian campus music scene before transitioning into music as a full-time career. Raised in Lagos and originally from Osun State, he developed a passion for music at an early age, drawing inspiration from live performances and some of Nigeria’s leading music stars.
The singer began his music career in 2016 and started recording professionally in 2020. His debut single, “Whyne For Me,” was released under the stage name Daecon Billiana. He later adopted the name Billiana, saying it reflected his evolving artistic identity and global aspirations.
Over the years, he has steadily built a catalogue of songs that showcase his versatility and ability to navigate multiple genres. His music often explores themes of love, ambition, personal growth, vulnerability and relationships.
Among his notable releases is “Dutty Whyne,” which has become his most-streamed song on Spotify with more than 113,000 streams. He also collaborated with Nigerian artiste Hyce on the track “Necessary.”
The release of Resonate comes on the heels of increasing recognition for the singer within the Nigerian campus entertainment space. In 2026, he was named Entertainer of the Year by the Yaba College of Technology Students’ Union Government and also received the National Association of Polytechnic Technology Students’ People’s Choice Award for Artist of the Year.
He further earned the National Association of Hospitality Management Students’ Timeless Campus Music Award for his song “Kaluba.”
A graduate of Hospitality Management from Yaba College of Technology, Billiana balanced academics with music before deciding to pursue his craft full-time after completing his studies.
Influenced by some of Africa’s biggest music stars, including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Rema, the singer said his goal remains to connect with listeners through authentic stories and contemporary African sounds.
With the arrival of Resonate, Billiana is seeking to expand his audience both within Nigeria and internationally, while reinforcing his message that every comeback can serve as the foundation for a greater success story.
