No Room For Terror: Abuja March Calls for All-Hands-On-Deck Against Insecurity
For the third time this week, the United Against Terror Movement (UATM) on Thursday staged a peaceful solidarity march in Abuja, calling for urgent national unity, stronger security coordination, and decisive action to end terrorism, kidnapping, and corruption across Nigeria.
The march drew scores of participants who carried placards and banners bearing messages against terrorism and insecurity, while urging government officials, political leaders, religious institutions, and citizens to put aside partisan differences and work collectively to address the country’s worsening security challenges.
Speaking during the demonstration, Co-Convener of the United Against Terror Movement, Okai Austin, said insecurity and corruption had become major national burdens that required a united response beyond political affiliations.
According to him, the persistent wave of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes threatens national stability and development, making it imperative for all stakeholders to embrace a coordinated strategy to restore peace and security.
Austin stressed that the fight against insecurity should not be politicized, noting that Nigerians must rally behind security agencies and support initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.
Participants at the rally also called for stronger collaboration among federal, state, and local authorities, as well as enhanced intelligence sharing among security agencies to combat criminal networks operating across the country.
The demonstrators maintained that national unity remains critical to defeating terrorism and other security threats, urging citizens to reject divisive narratives and embrace collective responsibility in safeguarding the nation.
The solidarity march forms part of a series of advocacy activities being undertaken by the movement to draw attention to the security situation in the country and mobilize public support for measures aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability.
