Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, was absent as the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, paid a Sallah visit to the Government House as part of the celebrations marking the end of Ramadan fasting.

The Emir paid the homage, yesterday, but the governor had reportedly traveled out of the state earlier in the morning.

The visit was part of traditional Sallah festivities, with the Emir arriving in a convoy of vehicles, instead of the usual horse procession due to security restrictions and the emirate tussle.

Tensions between the governor and the 15th Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, persisted, with Sanusi’s reinstatement as Emir is still being contested.

The Kano State Government had earlier announced that Emir Sanusi would lead this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar, but without the usual traditional horse riding.

Speaking during the event, the Emir commended government’s efforts on education and other people-oriented programmes in the state.

He also called for peace during the festive celebration and enjoined citizens to avoid any actions that would bring disunity to the state.

“I call on all of us to continue to pray for the peace, Unity, and progress of our dear state and the nation at large,” the Emir added Shortly after receiving the governor’s representative and Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore.

“As we celebrate, I call on all citizens to avoid any action or behaviour that could threaten the peace and stability of our dear states. Let us continue to uphold the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and harmonized co-existence regardless of our differences” the Governor stated.
