NANTA Election: Stakeholder Calls for Synergy, Unity

First Deputy National President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Mrs Chinyere Umeasiegbu, has called for cooperation and harmonious relationship among members; so that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election slated from April 14 to 18 in Ibadan, would be successful.

She said the priority should be the success of the Association, which has gained traction and recognition globally as an umbrella organisation for travel agents in Nigeria.

Umeasiegbu observed that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) see NANTA as the representative of the downstream of the aviation industry in Nigeria; so the Association must consolidate on the goodwill it has built over the past 50 years.

The First Deputy National President who is also the Managing Director/CEO of Global Links & Services Limited, has indicated her desire to recontest her position and urged members to support her re-election, saying it would enable her to consolidate on the gains already recorded.

According to her, beyond her desire to return and build on the accomplishments of the current administration, it would be an error for NANTA not to have a female in its core national executive and for the Eastern Zone to lack representation at the national level.

Umeasiegbu, who was a Deputy Vice President of the organisation’s Eastern Zone before her current position, told newsmen in Lagos that she would be returning with invaluable experience gathered on the job, which she would maximise to make NANTA better.

The Chevening scholar, former banker and capital market expert promised to open up additional streams of income for members of the Association, saying she would work to ensure the successful implementation of the GoLite payment system, a new payment software, if re-elected.
