Com. Bashir Pays Courtesy Visit to Omisore, Unveils Solar Training Initiative for Ikeja Youths
Comrade Oluwadamilare Sonayon Adebowale Bashir has paid a courtesy visit to Honourable Abisola Omisore, Executive Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, where he formally presented his multimillion-naira solar empowerment training programme and invited the council leadership to the official opening ceremony.
During the meeting, Bashir outlined the structure and objectives of the initiative, which is designed to create sustainable job opportunities for youths in Ikeja through specialised training in renewable energy. He explained that the programme is strictly capacity-driven, targeting young people between the ages of 18 and 40, with a total of 100 beneficiaries to be trained in batches to ensure quality delivery and hands-on supervision.
According to him, the first batch of 20 trainees will commence in March, marking the beginning of a phased rollout aimed at building a pool of skilled solar technicians and renewable energy entrepreneurs within the local government area.
Bashir noted that the initiative directly addresses the twin challenges of youth unemployment and unstable power supply, positioning solar technology as both a job-creation pathway and a practical solution to everyday energy needs. Beneficiaries, he said, will acquire installation, maintenance and system management skills that can lead to employment or self-established businesses.
While speaking during the visit, Bashir further stated that the empowerment scheme forms part of his contribution toward supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, citing the President’s emphasis on enterprise, innovation and inclusive economic growth.
In the same vein, he commended Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, for what he described as consistent grassroots interventions and humanitarian efforts in Ikeja and across Lagos State, noting that such initiatives continue to make tangible differences in the lives of ordinary people.
Bashir also praised Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, acknowledging his “fatherly role” and longstanding support for community stability and development in Ikeja.
He reaffirmed that the solar training scheme is not a one-off gesture but a structured empowerment model designed to build capacity, restore dignity of labour and position Ikeja youths to thrive in a rapidly evolving energy economy.
