Thomas Etuh at 60: Dogara Applauds a Life of Vision, Enterprise and National Service

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has extolled the leadership qualities and national contributions of prominent businessman and industrialist, Mr. Thomas Akoh Etuh, as he marked his 60th birthday, describing him as a model of disciplined enterprise and principled private-sector leadership.

In a goodwill message released to commemorate the milestone, Dogara said Etuh’s life and career reflect “vision, resilience, and exceptional national service,” noting that few Nigerians have combined business success with social responsibility as effectively as the chairman of several leading corporate institutions.

According to Dogara, Etuh’s influence spans critical sectors of the Nigerian economy, including agriculture, finance, telecommunications, and industrial development, where his strategic interventions have delivered measurable impact. He singled out Etuh’s pioneering role in reforming the fertiliser and agribusiness sector, stating that the effort empowered millions of farmers, strengthened food security, and revitalised rural economies across the country.

Dogara noted that Etuh’s leadership helped reposition fertiliser as a catalyst for productivity rather than a political instrument, thereby supporting Nigeria’s drive towards economic self-reliance and sustainable agricultural growth.

The former Speaker also commended Etuh’s corporate stewardship, particularly his role as Chairman of the Board of 9mobile, where he said Etuh provided steady leadership at a critical period in the company’s history, restoring confidence among stakeholders and repositioning the organisation for renewed growth.

Beyond the boardroom, Dogara praised Etuh’s humanitarian engagement as Chairman of the Jennifer Etuh Foundation, describing the Foundation as a platform through which Etuh has consistently translated private success into public good. He said the Foundation’s interventions in health, education, and community development reflect a deep sense of social responsibility and national commitment.
“At 60, Thomas Etuh exemplifies the values of integrity, discipline, and patriotic service,” Dogara said. “His life demonstrates that lasting prosperity is built by leaders who marry ambition with conscience and vision with responsibility.”

As Etuh celebrates the milestone, Dogara wished him good health, renewed strength, and continued success, expressing confidence that his contributions to national development will endure well into the future.

Mr. Etuh is the founder of the TAK Group of Companies and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of 9mobile and Chairman of the Jennifer Etuh Foundation.
