Bethel Foundation Announces 13th Edition of Aunt Landa’s Free Market Square
The Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, in partnership with the Aunt Landa’s Free Tertiary Academy, has officially announced the 13th edition of its flagship humanitarian initiative, Aunt Landa’s Free Market Square 2025, themed: ‘From Scarcity to Smiles’.
The highly anticipated event will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Amichi Civic Centre, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, commencing at 8:00 AM.
Aunt Landa’s Free Market Square is a humanitarian initiative that empowers vulnerable individuals and families to “shop” for essential needs at no cost, using the specially created Aunt Landa Love Currency (Aunt Landa Dollar), a zero-naira currency symbolising compassion, dignity, and divine love.
The annual outreach serves widows, children, the elderly, single mothers, displaced persons, and families facing severe economic hardship. Beneficiaries receive free food items, clothing, shoes, medical care, and hygiene supplies. Additionally, they gain access to Aunt Landa’s Free Wonderland, which includes a professional photography session for children and families, restoring dignity and joy.
Speaking on the importance of this year’s edition, the foundation’s founder and humanitarian, Dr Yolanda N. George-David (fondly known as Aunt Landa), said, “Each year, the number of people in need continues to rise. Behind every statistic is a family, a mother, a child simply trying to survive. The Free Market Square is our response to that pain. This year’s edition is intentionally designed to restore dignity, provide immediate relief, and empower people with tools that help them smile again.”
Beyond relief materials, the 13th edition emphasises economic empowerment and sustainability. Beneficiaries will have access to free vocational training through Aunt Landa’s Free Tertiary Academy, covering fields such as catering, hairstyling, saponification, crafts, and other practical skills. Selected beneficiaries will also receive empowerment tools and equipment, including sewing machines, grinding machines, popcorn machines, hair dryers, generators, sealing machines, and other business-enabling equipment to help them start or sustain small businesses.
In previous editions, the Market Square has impacted over 5,000 women and children, and the 2025 edition is projected to reach over 3,000 vulnerable families, with more than 11,000 food pack requests already recorded. The event will be supported by Relief Ambassadors, volunteers, medical professionals, vocational trainers, and community partners who will operate both on-site and online to amplify the impact.
Aunt Landa’s Free Market Square remains a call to collective compassion, inviting individuals, corporate organisations, and well-wishers to support humanitarian efforts that restore dignity and hope.
