NAMA 2025: Ofego Reigns Supreme, Banku Music Star Emerges Biggest Winner
Lagos was aglitter on the night of December 13th as the who’s who of the African entertainment industry gathered for the prestigious Notable Africa Music Awards (NAMA). The event, held in the nation’s bustling capital, lived up to its hype, delivering a spectacle of fashion, performances, and keen competition. However, one name echoed through the Eko Convention Centre more than any other: Ofego.
The Banku Music star and B.O.Y Music protege emerged as the undisputed champion of the evening, clinching a staggering three major awards. His acclaimed album “D Girls Dem Daddy” was crowned the Notable Album of the Year, while the visuals for the project’s track earned him the Notable Music Video of the Year. Demonstrating his versatility beyond performance, Ofego also scooped the Notable Song Writer of the year award, cementing his status as a multifaceted creative force.
The night was a celebration of pan-African talent, with Cameroon’s La Reine YOSE taking home the coveted Notable Artist of the Year award. Ghanaian act Glee Jeezy flew the flag high for West Africa, winning the Notable Western Africa Artist of the Year category. The veteran acts were not forgotten, as the legendary duo of Baba Fryo and Zeeno Foster were rightly honoured with the Notable Legend of the Year award.
Nigeria’s vibrant industry showed its depth across various specialties. Cyndy’s rise was affirmed as she won Notable Afrobeat Artist of Year, while the infectious “Omo Lile” by Danny S was voted Notable Song of the Year. Behind-the-scenes power players also got their moment, with Ella Raaye winning for Video Direction, Hadwon for Production, and the dynamic Ogarsomusic label named Record Label of the Year.
The event also recognized key industry pillars, with Amebo Michael celebrated as Music Promoter of the year, CHUKWUDI CHIMEZIE for Entertainment Law, and DJ BRYTOS for Artist Management. The hypeman category, always fiercely contested, was won by the charismatic Chief Daddy Of Lagos. As the curtains fell on NAMA 2025, the message was clear: African music is in a vibrant era, with both established legends and a new generation of stars like the triple-winning Ofego leading the charge.
