FG Holds Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival in Lagos

The federal government has scheduled the maiden Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival for December 16-17 at the Cricket Pitch, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos as part of this year’s Detty December.

Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy Hanatu Musa Musawa announced this yesterday in Abuja at a media briefing.

She said the festival jointly organized by the ministry and Irabor Creative Minds, promises to be an unforgettable Detty December, celebration of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, culinary diversity and everything that makes the country so great as a people.

The minister described the festival as an embodiment of the ministry’s commitment to harnessing the power of art, culture and tourism to drive economic growth, job creation and national unity.

The minister expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the arts and culture sector and administration’s commitment to creating and enabling environment for the industry to thrive is truly commendable.

“The Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival is a testament to the boundless creativity and talent that Nigeria possesses. We want to use as a gateway for national unity as we invite all Nigerians and visitors to join us as we showcase the best of our cuisine, music, dance, fashion and art.

“Detty December is a popular cultural event originating from Lagos, and the federal government will provide all necessary support to ensure a safe, beautiful, and culturally enriching experience for the international community and lovers of culture and creativity,” Musawa said.

The minister said that Lagos was chosen as the host city due to its reputation as a hub of cultural and creative excellence.

“This will be a bigger Detty December, and we envision a future where the Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival becomes a premier cultural event, attracting visitors from around the world to experience the richness of Nigerian culture,” she added.

The Managing Director, Irabor Creative Minds, Jude Uwagbai, assured participants of their security, stating the organization was working with Lagos State’s Lion Building Police to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
