OKOJIE BUILDS TWO HOMES FOR VULNERABLE FAMILIES, DELIVERS ON 30-DAY PROMISE OF COMPASSION

Hon. Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, Member of the House of Representatives for Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency, has delivered two newly built homes to vulnerable constituents, fulfilling a personal promise made only 30 days earlier.

The humanitarian intervention began after Okojie watched a viral video highlighting the plight of Mr. Sunday Iyere of Amendokhian, a widower caring for five young children — including a seven-month-old baby — while living in a collapsing mud house. Deeply moved by the family’s condition, the lawmaker immediately contacted the content creator, Uromi Pikin Comedy, and pledged to build a new two-bedroom home for the family within one month.

Around the same period, Okojie came across another painful case — that of Mrs. Philomena Ehizofua of Ebuade Lane off Uwalor Road, an elderly woman whose mud house had been destroyed by heavy rainfall. With nowhere to live, she had been forced to rely on the goodwill of strangers for shelter. Her emotional plea, according to Okojie, “was too heartbreaking to overlook.”

Determined to restore dignity to both individuals, Okojie assigned the two projects to separate contractors, Engr. Oscar and Engr. Joe Best, and mobilised them fully with a clear mandate to complete the homes within 30 days. Both houses were delivered on schedule and are now fully habitable.

The federal lawmaker, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), said his public service philosophy is anchored on empathy, humanity and actionable compassion. Despite the responsibilities of his national legislative role, he emphasised that true leadership must improve lives directly at the community level.

Okojie noted that every act of kindness — no matter how small — contributes to the fight against poverty. He urged Nigerians to embrace empathy, support the vulnerable, and uphold shared humanity as a collective responsibility.

He congratulated the two beneficiaries, Mrs. Philomena Ehizofua and Mr. Sunday Iyere, encouraging them to see the new homes as a renewed beginning and a testament to the transformational power of compassion.

Before-and-after photographs of both homes have been shared publicly, capturing the dramatic shift from despair to dignity.

Hon. Okojie reaffirmed his commitment to expanding community-driven interventions across Esan land, saying leadership must be measured not just by laws passed, but by lives changed.
