An IB Diploma student of Greensprings School, Pandora Onyedire, has been named a global runner-up of the 2025 Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC), triumphing from an astounding 53,000 entries worldwide.
Organised by the Royal Commonwealth Society, the QCEC is the world’s oldest international writing competition, challenging young minds across 56 Commonwealth nations to engage with critical global issues.
Onyedire’s winning essay, a profound reflection on Nigeria’s history and its resilient journey towards the future, was celebrated by international judges for its eloquence, depth, and powerful humanity.
“We are witnessing the rise of a future global leader,” said the school principal. “Onyedire’s achievement is a magnificent reflection of her unique talent and the Greensprings ethos in action. We strive to create an environment where intellectual curiosity, creative expression, and social consciousness are not just encouraged but are the bedrock of a holistic education. This international accolade validates that mission.”
Onyedire has been invited to a week of engagements and festivities in London, hosted by the Royal Commonwealth Society, which will include a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
“This landmark victory is a testament to what happens when a student’s extraordinary potential is met with a school’s unwavering support. At Greensprings, we don’t just teach; we inspire, challenge, and empower students to find their voice and make their mark on the world,” the school stated.
