Dr Godwin Umontuen, Sen Ali Ndume, Minister of State for Finance Dr Uzoka-Anite, others receives Zik Prize in Leadership Awards

The Chairman Maurid Group of schools, Dr Godwin Umontuen and other Nine high -proflle Nigerians received the 2025 Zik Prize in Leadership Awards on Sunday 16th November 2025.
Dr Godwin Umontuen received Zik’s Outstanding Professional Leader of the year in a ceremony organized by Zik’s Annual Award Lectures 2025 which took place at Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja to mark 121- Posthumous Birthday celebration of one of the great Nigerian leader, His Excellency Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Presenting the award to Dr Umontuen, the Chairman of National Planning Committee for Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Award Lectures for 2025, His Excellency Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Talban Minna , Saidanunan Hausa extols the Professional leadership qualities of Dr Godwin Umontuen especially in thee areas of building institutions that trained qualified nurses in Nigeria. He congratulated Dr Godwin Umontuen in his Dogged commitment to Nation building and National Unity.
Dr Umontuen also received certificate of honor from the Management of Zik’s Annual Award Lectures as Distinguished partner of Nnamdi Azikiwe Foundation (DPNA) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Nation building and Examplary services.

Zik Prize was established in 1995 to honour the legacy of Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

Celebrating exceptional leadership across Africa and its diaspora, this award has for three decades recognized individuals who embody the values of visionary governance , integrity and societal impact championed by the Great Zik of Africa which Dr Umontuen demonstrates.

Maurid Group of schools Chairman thanked the management and organizers of such an epoch-making event for finding him worthy for the award adding that he will continue to imbibe the virtues of Zik which is worthy of emulation.

Sen Ali Ndume, Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Prince Arthur Eze, Prof John Kennedy Opara and others also received different categories of Zik’s award.

In his speech, the Keynote Speaker Hon. Justice Mainasara Ibrahim Kogo Umar, Chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal and the Chairman of the occasion His Excellency Prof Tijjani Muhammed Bande,OFR spoke extensively on the need for the Unity of Nigeria which ZIK fought for while alive.

Dr Godwin Umontuen was accompanied at the event by his wife, Mrs Confidence Umontuen, his beautiful daughter Stella Umontuen, friends and well wishers.

Dignitaries at the event includes Prof Emeritus (Dame) Uche Azikiwe,MFR wife of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Emir of Wase, Dr Muhammad Sambo Haruna 11 represented by Jaafar Wase, Chairman Max Air Alhaji Dahiru Manga represented by Inuwa Baba, Prof Shehu Mailafia Bamali representing Emir of Zazzau among others.
