Moses Orimolade’s Legacy Comes Alive in ‘Baba Aladura’

Members and friends of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church, clad in their pristine white sutanas, filled Terra Kulture VI, Lagos, their presence radiating devotion and anticipation.

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the hall buzzed with excitement as “Baba Aladura: Moses Orimolade Odyssey” premiered. The stage play-musical brought the extraordinary life of St. Moses Orimolade to life, tracing his spiritual journey, leadership, and enduring legacy, while music, dance, and stirring performances left the audience inspired and deeply moved.

Directed by Makinde Adeniran, the production combined dynamic performances, traditional music, and evocative storytelling to bring Orimolade’s journey to life.

Executive producer and convener Samuel Ogunyooye explained the motivation behind the project:
“No religious body in Nigeria has really come out to drive the origin of their church like this. And that is why we are a first in this. We started with a documentary called Anathema. Now, instead of going to the movies straight, we opted for a live performance. This is how serious we take Baba Aladura.”

Actor Toyin Osinaike, who served as the narrator, shared his personal connection to the story:
“As an actor, I realised that Moses Orimolade has done more than what we know. It is not just time to celebrate him, but to also correct the anomalies in the society that we already have.”

With its seamless weave of history, culture, and spiritual depth, Baba Aladura emerges as a landmark celebration of Nigeria’s religious heritage. Audience at Terra Kulture departed not just entertained, but moved and inspired, carrying with them the enduring spirit of St. Moses Orimolade and the vibrant legacy of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church.
