Africa Films For Impact Festival (AFFIF) 2025 Concludes in Abuja After Three Transformative Days of Cinema, Dialogue & Social Impact
The Africa Films For Impact Festival (AFFIF) concluded its powerful 2025 edition on October 31st at Silverbird Cinemas, Abuja, delivering three days of unforgettable screenings, masterclasses, dialogues, and impact-driven activities under the inspiring theme “Be The Change.”
Powered by Films For Impact Foundation, AFFIF 2025 convened filmmakers, activists, development partners, policymakers, students, creatives, and members of the diplomatic community for a festival that boldly reinforced cinema as a catalyst for social transformation across Africa.
This year’s festival featured:
40 socially conscious film screenings from across Africa and the diaspora, tackling issues such as human rights, governance, gender-based violence, migration, climate change, disability inclusion, and youth empowerment.
7 high-level panel sessions, including discussions on governance, women’s rights, global cinema access, human rights, and the power of storytelling to reshape Africa.
8 masterclasses, including directing, producing, cinematography, acting, and impact storytelling led by industry icons.
The Film Fellowship, training 20 emerging impact filmmakers from across Nigeria.
The Actors Workshop & Showcase, spotlighting 50 carefully selected actors who performed monologues before top producers and directors.
The Spotlight Showcase, amplifying exceptional underrepresented films and filmmakers.
Daily Networking Mixers, designed to foster partnerships between filmmakers, NGOs, donors, and creative professionals.
AFFIF 2025 recorded over 700 in-person attendees and 35,000+ online engagements across platforms, solidifying its role as Africa’s premier human rights and social impact film festival.

The awards night was attended by filmmakers, activists, development organizations, diplomatic representatives, and media houses, and received widespread coverage across national media.
AFFIF is spearheaded by Bright Wonder Obasi, award-winning film/TV director, impact producer, and social justice advocate. Through Films For Impact Foundation, he continues to lead groundbreaking initiatives that merge cinema and advocacy to transform communities.
AFFIF 2025 reaffirmed that cinema is more than entertainment — it is a tool for justice, empathy, and transformation.
Preparations are already underway for AFFIF 2026, themed “Reimagine Africa: Storytelling for Transformation,” with expanded programming and continental reach.
Since 2020, AFFIF has served as a continental platform for films and conversations that challenge injustice, amplify marginalized voices, and inspire action across Africa.
