De Imperial Philanthropic Family Holds 6th AGM in Lagos, Reaffirms Commitment to Service and Southeast Development

The De Imperial Philanthropic Family, a foremost humanitarian and socio-cultural organization dedicated to service and community empowerment, held its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 30, 2025, at the prestigious Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event brought together eminent personalities, captains of industry, and distinguished members of the association from across the country and diaspora.

In his opening address, the National President, High Chief (Dr) Sir Darlington Nwabunike (Eze-Nwakaibeya, Ogbabalu Aku N’anwu Ojoto), expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for His continued guidance and preservation over the years. He warmly welcomed members to the 6th AGM, commending their steadfastness and unity of purpose in advancing the organization’s mission.

We thank God Almighty for His grace upon us as a family and for sustaining our vision of service to humanity. As we gather today, let us continue to uphold the values of philanthropy, compassion, and selfless service that define our identity,”
High Chief Nwabunike stated.

He further urged members to remain unwavering in their commitment to the ideals of philanthropy and community development, emphasizing that De Imperial Philanthropic Family stands as a beacon of hope and progress across communities in Nigeria, particularly in the Southeast.

The highlight of the AGM was a thought-provoking panel discussion on the theme, “The Emerging Southeast – Re-Inventing Its Past Glory.” Distinguished guest speakers included Dr. Obiora Okonkwo (Managing Director, United Nigeria Airlines), Chief Osita Chidoka (Ike Obosi), and Barr. Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo, who collectively emphasized the need for the Southeast region to refocus on homegrown development and economic revitalization.

Dr. Obiora Okonkwo and Barr. Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo both called for renewed commitment to the philosophy of “Akụluọụnọ” — a cultural and economic ethos that encourages investment in one’s homeland to drive regional growth. They noted that true progress can only be achieved when successful individuals and organizations channel resources and expertise toward uplifting their native communities.

Chief Osita Chidoka, in his keynote remarks, challenged the audience to adopt a “culture of agency” rather than an “alibi culture.”

We must move from the culture of excuses to the culture of action. Progress begins when we take responsibility for solving our problems rather than rationalizing them,”
he asserted, drawing applause from attendees.

The AGM also served as a platform to celebrate the organization’s achievements and renew its collective vision for the future. Over the years, De Imperial Philanthropic Family has implemented numerous community-based projects, scholarship programs, and empowerment initiatives aimed at fostering education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship in various parts of the country.

A notable highlight of the event was the induction of nine new members into the organization, further strengthening its network of committed philanthropists and professionals dedicated to humanitarian service.

The gathering concluded with a reaffirmation of the group’s commitment to promoting unity, cultural pride, and sustainable development across Nigeria, especially in the Southeast region.
