UI produces another Set of MBBS,BDS as Induction ceremony holds in grand style

The graduating students of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes of the University of Ibadan were formally inducted into the medical and dental professions on Monday, at the Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Ibadan.

According to the statement the prestigious event was graced by eminent personalities, including the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), the Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, the Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and several members of the University Management. The Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Oyo State Branch, Dr. Happy Adedapo, also honoured the occasion with his presence.
The ceremony was a colourful and memorable one, befitting the enviable reputation of Nigeria’s premier university. The richness, academic excellence, and historical legacy of the University of Ibadan were on full display throughout the event.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of prizes to the best graduating students in various specialties. The NMA Oyo State Chairman, Dr. Happy Adedapo, further added excitement to the event by awarding cash prizes to the Best Graduating Medical Student and the Best Graduating Dental Student in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
It was also a moment of pride and celebration as the gathering honoured one of our own, Dr. Temitope Ilori the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and a former Social Secretary of NMA Oyo State. Her daughter was among the best graduating students, adding a touch of generational excellence to the occasion.
In her remarks, the MDCN Registrar charged the newly inducted doctors and dentists to uphold the ethics and values of the medical profession, serve humanity with integrity, and commit to global best practices. ,She emphasized that their induction marks not just the end of academic pursuit, but the beginning of a lifelong responsibility to safeguard human health and dignity.
The ceremony came to a graceful close with prayers and an inspiring charge for the inductees to become global citizens, making positive generational impacts in the medical world and beyond.
