“We’re Engineering the Future of Food Delivery in Africa,” Says Food Online GM
Nigeria’s food delivery space may have found a new game changer as Food Online, a tech-driven startup, announced that it has processed more than 12,000 orders less than one month after commencing operations.
The company, which is positioning itself as a logistics-first and customer-focused platform, disclosed that its activities have already generated more than ₦75 million in revenue for partner restaurants.
Industry watchers say the timing could not be better. A recent report by BlueWeave Consulting projects Nigeria’s online food delivery market to hit USD 1.9 billion by 2031, growing at an annual rate of 10.88 per cent between 2025 and 2031.
With no dominant player in the sector and the exit of several big names, Food Online believes it has the right strategy to claim market leadership.
Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, General Manager of Food Online, Damilola Yusuf, said the startup is building with scale in mind.
“Our platform is not just a food marketplace, it is an engine accommodating every aspect in the food value chain from restaurants, customers, and logistics designed to overcome the challenges of Nigeria’s cities. Our traction so far proves both consumer demand and our model’s efficiency,” he stated.
Food Online’s app allows customers to connect with a wide range of restaurants, track orders in real time, and make payments using multiple options. The company says this design, focused on reliability and speed, has driven rapid adoption and retention since launch.
Also commenting, Senior Business Development Executive, Mr. Victor Oni, explained that the platform is proving equally valuable for restaurants.
“Beyond customer success, Food Online is proving to be a valuable partner for restaurants by increasing visibility, driving consistent sales, and enabling digital transformation in an industry where many small-scale operators remain offline,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Food Online plans to deepen its footprint across Nigeria and gradually scale into other African markets, with the ambition of becoming one of the continent’s leading digital economy success stories.
