The Federal Government has launched a Unified Institution Management Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Portal to streamline data management and strengthen governance in polytechnics and technical institutions across the country.

The initiative, led by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), is part of the board’s drive for digital transformation in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.

Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, said the platform would serve as a turning point in the management of technical education.

“The ERP platform will transform administration in our institutions, enhance transparency, and promote accountability in ways we have never achieved before,” he said.

In a technical presentation, Dr. Babangida A. Albaba, Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, explained that the portal was designed with strong security features, while also simplifying institutional registration and onboarding.

“We have built this system with reliability and data protection at its core, ensuring institutions can adopt it with confidence,” he noted.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, officially launched the portal. She stressed the government’s determination to enforce compliance, saying, “All polytechnics and technical institutions must complete their registration on the platform by December 2025. This is not optional — it is mandatory.”

During discussions, some stakeholders expressed concerns over potential operational challenges, resource allocation, and data security. But NBTE assured participants of comprehensive support.

“We are providing not just the technology but also the technical assistance needed to ensure institutions can adapt without disruption,” Prof. Bugaje added.

The launch, according to the NBTE, represents a landmark step in modernizing Nigeria’s technical education system, making administration more efficient and accountable.
