Omega Global Development, a U.S.-based faith-driven nonprofit with a mission to restore hope and rebuild futures in underserved African communities, has announced the appointment of Nigerian-born, U.S.-based humanitarian and global mental health advocate, Dr. Emmanuel Oluwasayomi Ahmadu, to its Board of Directors.
The news was confirmed in a welcome letter from Mrs LaShelle D. Johnson, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Omega Global Development, who emphasized the significance of Ahmadu’s appointment. “We are honored that Dr. Ahmadu has joined our Board of Directors,” Johnson said in a phone interview with Tribune. “His presence brings a new depth of strength to our team. Emmanuel’s unique gifts, wisdom, and perspective will be invaluable as we expand into this next season of impact. Together, we will restore hope and rebuild futures.”
According to Mr. Kevin P. James, President of Omega’s Board of Directors, the appointment was more than a chance connection, it was a divine alignment. “I wasn’t even sure he would respond when I first reached out to him on LinkedIn,” James admitted. “But he did — and he came through. For years, I’ve desired to build an inclusive team of vibrant, young, and passionate advocates with strong faith who are willing to genuinely pour into others, especially across Africa. Emmanuel embodies all of that. He is an educator, program developer, and leadership development facilitator. More importantly, he is someone committed to restoring hope and rebuilding futures, which is exactly what Omega stands for.”
James further noted that what qualifies Emmanuel is not only his accolades but also his authenticity, resilience, and proven record of shaping youth-focused, faith-driven initiatives globally. His assignment, James explained, will center on strengthening Omega’s youth leadership academies, integrating mental health into community development, and expanding its global advocacy platforms. “His presence is timely and critical for us right now as we build on Omega’s 40-year vision for Africa. Emmanuel brings the kind of perspective and energy that will help propel us into the future.”
Dr. Ahmadu, globally recognized for his resilience story and groundbreaking advocacy in mental health and youth empowerment, described his appointment as a defining moment in his life’s mission. “It is a profound honor to join Omega Global Development’s Board of Directors,” Ahmadu told Tribune in a phone interview. “This is not just an appointment but a calling, to co-labor with a team dedicated to faith-driven transformation across Africa. My life has been shaped by resilience and a passion for building systems that empower the next generation. Omega’s vision resonates deeply with me. Together, we can impact millions of lives for generations to come.”
He added that his commitment to Omega’s work is rooted in the belief that development must be community-owned: “True transformation happens when communities are empowered to own their stories and solutions. Omega’s integrated approach combining education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and faith is exactly the framework Africa needs right now.”
Founded on biblical principles, Omega Global Development currently operates in The Gambia, Uganda, Guinea-Bissau, South Sudan, and Rwanda, with past projects in Zambia and Malawi. Its programs focus on education, maternal health, women’s entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture. The organization’s 40-year vision includes creating eco-friendly Omega Green Villages, building schools and vocational institutes across Africa, expanding maternal and pediatric healthcare clinics, growing the Omega Women’s Enterprise Program (OWEP), and establishing large-scale youth leadership academies.
CEO Johnson summarized this renewed direction with optimism: “With leaders like Dr. Ahmadu joining us, our 40-year vision of a transformed Africa, rooted in faith, sustainability, and innovation is not just a dream but a destiny within reach.”
