The Nigerian natural hair segment is witnessing a rapid boom, thus consolidating the overall hair market presently valued at US$1.46 billion.

The market is projected to grow further with an annual growth rate of 8.52 per cent between 2025-2030, according to Statista.

Speaking at a quarterly natural hair workshop organised by Natures Gentle Touch in Lagos, recently, Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Chijioke Anaele, attributed the surge in natural hair preference to not just its cost effectiveness, but its reflection of raw and African inspired beauty.

He said just like the frenzy for fitness in recent times, Nigerians are becoming more appreciative of natural hair cultural significance and values.

Anaele affirmed that the brand embodies African identity, thus driven by the mission to empower women to embrace African beauty and promote self-confidence through healthy hair care.

He explained further the rationale behind the workshop designed for women wearing natural hair, as move to promote nature, while projecting Africa to the world.

He added, “Essentially, we are trying to educate women on the proper care of their natural hair as more women in this category are not very much familiar with the care process.

“We believe every African woman should celebrate her natural hair, because foreign chemicals and extensions are not originally designed for us, yet, we spend fortunes on them.”

He convinced that wearing a good hair boosts women’s confidence and vice versa.

“We realised that most women lack confidence in wearing their natural hair openly, which we believe with education and proper treatment, they can learn to care for and flaunt their natural beauty.

“The workshop’s goal is to demystify natural hair care and make it more accessible. Our mission is to empower women with knowledge. When you treat your hair well, it gives you what you want. That’s the message we’re driving home,” he added.
