A former governor of Adamawa State, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla and, erstwhile Director-General of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhi, have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Jibrilla’s decision was stated in a letter he signed and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward Kollere, Mubi-North, Local Government Area of the state on July 21, 2025.
He noted that the decision to leave the party was not made lightly, but added that it was time for him to pursue other political and personal commitments that aligned with his present realities.
He wrote: “I am grateful for the opportunities to contribute to the party’s vision and goals during my membership. My experience with the PDP has provided valuable insights towards grassroots mobilization and enhancing our democratic process.
“This decision has not been made lightly. While I deeply respect the party’s legacy, I feel it is time for me to pursue other political/personal commitments aligned with my current priorities.”
The letter was received and approved by the ward chairman, Adamu.
On his part, Orhi, in a letter addressed to the Atirkyese Council Ward Chairman in Benue State, announced that he has joined the coalition under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He added that his decision to leave the PDP came after intensive consultation with his family, friends, and supporters.
The letter read: “After intensive consultations with my family, friends, thousands of my supporters and political Associates locally, Nationally and Globally I have decided to resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.
“This is to enable me join the coalition of other progressive minded Nigerians in the African
Democratic Congress (ADC) on the rescue mission.
“Consequently, I hereby tender my letter of resignation from our GREAT Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.
“I truly remain eternally grateful to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that gave me the opportunity to serve my country Nigeria at the highest level. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.”
