“We Are Redefining Photography in Nigeria” – George Okoro Launches Go Talent Hunt Season One
Nigeria’s creative industry is set to experience a new wave of innovation as celebrated photographer George Okoro officially announces the launch of Go Talent Hunt: Season One — a groundbreaking photography competition designed to discover and empower young Nigerian photographers.
The initiative, which kicks off its first season this June, promises to spotlight raw talent from across the country, regardless of equipment or background. Whether using a smartphone or a DSLR, participants will be judged on their creativity, skill, and storytelling abilities.
The six-week contest will be hosted entirely on social media, engaging contestants in weekly tasks crafted to challenge their visual storytelling abilities. A panel of renowned judges, in conjunction with public voting, will determine which participants progress to the next stages, culminating in the grand prize – a whopping ₦10 million (terms and conditions apply). Registration officially opened on June 9, 2025, and closes on June 27, 2025.
Speaking at the announcement, George Okoro expressed his vision for the platform: “I believe that talent knows no bounds, and through Go Talent Hunt, we aim to nurture the next generation of photographers who will redefine the visual landscape of Nigeria. Our goal is not just to find a winner but to create a platform that educates and empowers young talents, giving them the tools to thrive in a competitive environment.”
The organisers are calling on media houses, creative communities, and the public to rally around the initiative and celebrate the vibrancy and depth of Nigeria’s visual arts culture.
Updates, submissions, and winner announcements will be shared via George Okoro’s official social media pages on Instagram and other platforms
